(Thomson Reuters ONE) - KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.10.2009 AT 09.00 1(2)The Kesko Group's sales from continuing operations in September 2009totalled ?721.3 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.1%compared with the previous year. In January-September the salestotalled ?6,386.3 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.3%.In the food trade, sales in September were ?321.5 million, anincrease of 1.5%. Sales to the K-food store chains were up by 4.2%.In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in September were?127.6 million, down by 3.6%. The sales of household goods andcosmetics developed best. Clothing and home technology salesdecreased over the previous year.In the building and home improvement trade, sales in September were?213.7 million, a decrease of 21.4%. Sales in Finland were down by19.9%, which can, above all, be attributed to the decrease in B-to-Bsales and in the sales of agricultural supplies. In foreigncountries, sales decreased by 22.6% in terms of euros, and by 16.3%in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic countries, sales weredown by 43.6%. In Russia, sales dropped by 23.7% in terms of euros,and by 6.4% in terms of the local currency.In the car and machinery trade, VV-Auto's sales in September were?48.8 million, which is down by 37.7%. In addition to the marketdownturn in the car trade, the sales performance was affected by thecar tax act which came into force in April, because of which car taxlevied on cars after 1 April 2009 is not included in sales figures.The share of passenger cars imported by VV-Auto out of newregistrations increased to 18.7% in September. Konekesko's sales inSeptember were ?27.0 million, down by 46.7%. The total number ofselling days in January-September was three less than in the previousyear. The number of retail selling days in September was 26, which isthe same as in the previous year.
