Simple Library-Managed System Protects Data in Transit
(firmenpresse) - SIMI VALLEY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/23/11 -- Qualstar® Corporation (NASDAQ: QBAK), an innovator in automated tape storage solutions, today announced that its widely regarded RLS-8500 Series rack mount tape libraries and the new RLS-8350 model now feature library-based encryption key management to eliminate the risk of data loss while tapes are in transit to external disaster protection sites or other remote locations. RLS-8500 Series libraries incorporating encryption key management are now shipping.
This simple, easy-to-use feature allows administrators to assign a separate key to secure the tapes in each library partition. These encryption-ready libraries use customer-specified keys to access the powerful AES 256-bit encryption capability built into every LTO tape drive.
Library-based key management operates transparently to all data protection software applications. It is incorporated into Q-Link, Qualstar's web browser based remote library manager that enable administrators to configure, upgrade, and monitor all RLS libraries locally via an intranet, or over the Internet from anywhere in the world.

Optimized for use in industry-standard computing equipment racks, Qualstar's RLS-8560, RLS-85120 and new RLS-8350 models can store over 340 terabytes of data (using typical compression techniques) and house up to five LTO tape drives. The standard four-slot I/O port allows easy import and export of tapes for offsite data security.
