Bombardier and Trenitalia Sign 258 Million Euros Contract for an
Additional 100 Locomotives in Italy
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - E464 locomotives to reinforce regional passenger fleetBERLIN, GERMANY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/14/09 -- Trenitalia (ItalianRailways) awarded Bombardier Transportation a new order to supply anadditional 100 of its economical and proven E464 electriclocomotives. Valued at approximately 258 million euros ($383 millionUS), the contract is a further landmark for Bombardier locomotives inItaly, having already received orders from Trenitalia for a total of638 E464 locomotives, 480 of which are already in successfulcommercial service. The contract also considers an option for afurther 50 locomotives.With these additional E464 locomotives, Trenitalia will be operatingone of the largest single vehicle-type fleets in Europe, making itone of the first operators to benefit from considerably reducedoperational and maintenance costs.
