What to Do on a Tignes Family Ski Holiday
Heading off on a Tignes ski holiday? Great decision! But if you’re wondering about what else the
resort offers - the answer is, plenty.
(firmenpresse) - Discovering the perfect place for a family holiday isn’t easy. Anyone with children knows that
(particularly with differing age groups) it’s a hard sell to please everyone, and an even more
difficult task finding somewhere that’s relaxing for the parents, as well. The great news is that
there’s an ideal destination with that much sought after, “something for everyone”…
The French Alps have long been a favourite for both summer and winter breaks, and one place, in
particular, is especially popular with families: the high-altitude resort of Tignes. A Tignes ski
holiday offers not just great accommodation and fantastic skiing for every level of experience
(and English-speaking ski schools), but also a great range of other activities, for when little
(and not so little) people need a break from skiing or snowboarding.
Other Activities for a Tignes Ski Holiday
It’s hard to imagine anyone getting sick of skiing, but it does happen – and isn’t variety the
spice of life? Here are just a few of the other ways you can entertain every member of the family
on your Tignes ski holiday when you aren’t actually skiing.
Mountain biking: Your family might have tried mountain biking, but have they tried
mountain biking on snow? It’s a whole other story and such a fun activity to do together. Once
the pistes are closed for the day, bikes are available to hire (along with safety gear). Once
you’re kitted out, climb aboard the gondola and head back up the mountain. There’s nothing quite
like the thrill of downhill mountain biking on the empty slopes, and this is one adventure the
kids will never forget.
Indoor climbing: For an activity that will get you completely off the slopes, indoor
climbing is another way to burn off any pent-up energy. You can catch the free bus to Le Lac,
from anywhere in the five villages of Tignes, and try your hands at climbing the wall. This is a
safe and fun activity suitable for all ages.
Ice-skating: Back in the great outdoors, the beautiful lake in Tignes is a magical place
to go ice-skating. Open from 4-8pm every day, you can hire skates from the leisure centre and head
out onto the frozen lake. Skating feels completely different in an outdoor setting than an indoor
rink, and the kids will absolutely love it.
Sledging: Is there anything more fun and freeing than sledging? On the resort’s free
toboggan runs you can zoom down on tubes, sledges or toboggans, or join Expedition Cobra, which
includes a whizz down the slopes and exploration of a 40m underground tunnel!
(Reservations required.)
Horse riding: You guessed it – on snow! Depending on the ages of your children, you can
take your pick from a horse drawn sled experience or horseback riding, with a fully qualified
instructor. A truly memorable experience in the wonderful snowy and forested surroundings.
Ice-floating: Anyone over ten years can (literally) dive into this very invigorating and
yet completely relaxing experience! Available day and night, you’ll don a wetsuit and enter the
icy waters of the lake against the stunning backdrop of snowy mountain peaks and simply… float.
Very Zen.
La Banquise children’s area: This is the perfect place for younger children, with its
igloo village, mini sledge run, games, and snow labyrinth. The best news is it’s completely
free!
A Well-Rounded Tignes Ski Holiday
So, there you have it: a fantastic resort that offers not only some of the best skiing in the
Alps, but plenty of other activities to round out the perfect family holiday! What’s not to love
about a Tignes ski holiday?
