The Juicy DetailsIn the reveal post, Harvey announces that her next release will be titled (drumroll, please) A Happier Life!
The title will feature all-new characters in a story set in North Carolina. This setting may be familiar to fans of Harvey, as it is not only the author’s home, but also the backdrop for many of Harvey’s other works including her latest release, The Summer Of Songbirds.
The PlotAccording to an accompanying blog post, the story will follow Keaton Smith, tasked with selling the house which her mother called home as a child, but which has stood vacant for many years. As she prepares the house for sale, however, she begins to uncover intriguing unanswered questions regarding the death of her grandparents years prior.
A New Take On StorytellingFollowing in the footsteps of The Summer Of Songbirds, this new novel will also feature a multigenerational split narrative, showcasing the unraveling mystery from both the past and present. As such, the tale promises to be one of Harvey’s most ambitious to date, presenting a fresh take on storytelling enrobed in the author's signature warmth and southern charm.
A Personal TouchAs with much of Harvey’s writing, this novel also appears to have been crafted from her personal experiences as a North Carolina native. Beaufort, where the story is set, is of particular significance in that way - she spent her summers there as an adolescent, and now serves as a member of the real-life Beaufort Historical Association.
Hitting The RoadThis announcement coincides with the beginning of Harvey’s latest book tour, which will take her across the country to stops that will be announced on a rolling basis in the near future.
