(PresseBox) - Over decades in the market, it has proven itself to be a reliable and cost-effective standard series among metal bellows couplings: the KM metal bellows coupling by JAKOB Antriebstechnik. Like all metal bellows couplings, it is rigid in rotational direction but flexible in axial, angular, and radial directions. Despite the similarities, metal bellows couplings can vary significantly from each other. The technical differences lie, for example, in the choice of bellows or the connection method between bellows and hub or bellows and shaft. JAKOB utilizes only thin-walled, multi-layer bellows made from certified stainless steel sheets. This results in high torsional stiffness, ensuring precise positioning and concentricity even under challenging conditions, guaranteeing absolutely backlash-free torque transmission between input and output shafts. The multi-layer bellows design also allows for accommodating large shaft displacements with small restoring forces, translating to increased reliability, operational safety, and lifespan.

The clamping hub of the KM is equipped with the innovative Easy-Clamp-System, allowing for easy mounting with sufficient clearance. The necessary clamping force for torque transmission is ensured by a single, radially accessible screw per hub. This simple and reliable connection enables straightforward installation even in confined spaces with just a few steps. To achieve a low moment of inertia, the hubs are made from high-strength aluminum.

The connection between bellows and hub is achieved through the backlash-free swaging process. Unlike adhesive bonds, this joining method is indefinitely durable under critical operating conditions (-40°C to +200°C, chemicals, etc.) and can safely transmit the torque of each bellows position into the hub.

Metal bellows couplings of the KM series are available with nominal torques ranging from 0.4 Nm (MKM) to 1300 Nm (KM).
