Winning Healthcare Organizations Demonstrate How ED Solutions Help Meet Industry Challenges

The award recognizes hospitals that have partnered with T-System most effectively to improve the quality of patient care, operational processes and financial results in the emergency department (ED).

The top five ED performers demonstrated excellence in five key areas: optimizing patient care quality, innovation in patient access, attaining Meaningful Use with computerized provider order entry (CPOE), achieving operational efficiency and financial optimization. The winners include:
: With T-System solutions, the hospital has improved the capture of core measures and overall patient care quality. For the past two years, it received the Emergency Medicine Excellence Award from HealthGrades for performing in the top 5 percent in low patient mortality rates.
: Using and HL7 data streams, Mason General Hospital is able to provide patients with a convenient way to access and share their health information. It created a portal that allows patients to pre-register for ED visits, access and share visit summaries online and download the information to personal health records.
: This hospital will be among the country's first hospitals to attest to Stage 1 Meaningful Use, achieved in part through the use of CPOE in the ED. Montrose Memorial Hospital was recently selected to present its Meaningful Use strategy at the on Nov. 2.
: Despite seeing a 20 percent increase in ED visits during the past three years, the hospital improved its average length of stay for discharged patients by 36 percent and for admitted patients by 40 percent.
: Through a focused effort on process improvement and ED automation, PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center has achieved an overall revenue improvement of $1.1 million annually.
