O Bee Credit Union Takes Top Honors at the 2011 NWCUA Spectrum Marketing Awards
(firmenpresse) - TUMWATER, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/27/11 -- "Capture The Tag," a totally original promotion that crossed over digital, social, and traditional media and engaged local partners and participants, enabled its creator, O Bee Credit Union, to take "Best of Show" honors, along with three first place category wins in the Summit Marketing Awards held by the . The awards were presented during NWCUA's annual convention September 20-22 at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA and were open to all the credit unions in Washington and Oregon.
"We are thrilled to receive these first place awards, because it is industry recognition of our efforts earlier this year to do something novel to help the local economy and promote personal financial education," notes Lee Wojnar, Vice President of Marketing, O Bee Credit Union. "We look forward to building on that success with another round of Capture The Tag in 2012." was a digital age contest very loosely based on the popular summer camp game "Capture The Flag." Participants armed with smart phones were unleashed on a treasure hunt to scan and collect 30 Microsoft MS tags (20 business tags and 10 education tags) that played videos on their phones giving them clues to the location of the next tag, along with personal finance tips and advice, until they found and visited all 20 participating businesses.
O Bee Credit Union (The Olympia Brewing Co. Employees and Families Credit Union) was started Feb. 15, 1955, by Ted McGill, who worked in the bottle house of the Brewery.
