The International Engineering Consortium (IEC), Duke Energy, and Progress Energy Will Present the Grid ComForum East, a Three-Day Conference Addressing the Deployment of Smart Grid Technology, at the McKimmon Center at North Carolina State University May 22-24, 2012


(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 09/27/11 -- The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) announces GCF East, its fourth program in the Grid ComForum series of events. The event will take place this May 22-24, 2012, at the McKimmon Center at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina in conjunction with Duke Energy and Progress Energy.

GCF East will begin with a private program for Duke Energy, Progress Energy, and their key stakeholders on May 22, 2012. May 23-24, 2012 will consist of a conference open to the industry as a whole that will bring together all of the major electric power utilities, vendors, and suppliers involved in the region's Smart Grid technology deployment.

The program will also unite tier one research universities, such as North Carolina State University, which must prepare the next generation of industry professionals and whose research contributes to advances in Smart Grid technology.

"We are excited to bring GCF East to Raleigh under the leadership of Duke Energy and Progress Energy. The assembly of the Southeastern Smart Grid community to specifically address the Smart Grid deployment issues from the perspective of these two major utilities is vital to further progress in the enabling of the next-generation power grid in the region," commented John Janowiak, President of the International Engineering Consortium.
