Deliveries worth about EUR 20 million from Ruukki for multi-purpose
stadium to be built in Stockholm
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Rautaruukki Corporation Stock exchange release 19 October 2009 at 9amRuukki has signed a contract with Peab for the manufacture andinstallation of steel structures and roofing elements for a newmulti-purpose stadium in Stockholm, Sweden. The order is worth atotal of about EUR 20 million.The Swedish National Arena (Swedbank Arena) will be one of thebiggest stadiums featuring a sliding roof in Northern Europe. Whencompleted in 2012, the arena will be able to hold 50,000 spectatorsfor football matches and 65,000 for concerts and other events."Ruukki has both the expertise and resources to carry out a projectas demanding as the Swedbank Arena. The design has beenspecially engineered to minimise welding at the site. The componentswill be manufactured mainly at Ruukki's units in Ylivieska andPeräseinäjoki, Finland, and bolted together at the constructionstage. Ruukki's deliveries to the working site will begin in June2010 and are estimated to continue until August 2011.In recent few years, Ruukki has been involved in the design,installation and delivery of structures for a number of arenas inSweden, Russia and the Baltic states.
