Synapse Wireless(R) Announces Surface Mount Sub-GHz SNAP(R) RF Modules
Ultra Low Power 915 MHz and 868 MHz Modules Provide Superior Indoor Capabilities

(firmenpresse) - HUNTSVILLE, AL -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/11 -- Synapse Wireless®, Inc. announced today the availability of its long-range, surface mount sub-GHz transceiver modules at the Embedded Systems Conference, Boston 2011 (Booth #609). Supporting the North American 915MHz band and European 868MHz band, these sub-GHz RF modules come preloaded with SNAP®, the industry's most reliable wireless mesh network operating system for connecting machines to each other and the Internet.
Both new modules, the SM300PC1 at 915MHz and the SM301PC1 at 868MHz are small, low-powered modules that achieve a Line-Of-Sight (LOS) range of up to 1 mile while having power consumption as low as 2µA. SNAP's on-board Python interpreter provides for rapid application development and over-the-air programming. They are ideal for many indoor applications requiring penetration of walls and other objects.
Having a footprint of only 29.8mm x 19mm, these surface mount modules have a low-power, single-chip design that saves board space and lowers the overall bill-of-materials and power consumption. The SM300PC1 is approved as an FCC Part 15 unlicensed modular transmitter and the SM301PC1 is CE certified; both provide a full 16 channels of operation.
Products features for both modules include:
19 GPIO and up to 18 A/D inputs
UART port for control or transparent data
Low power modes: 2µA with internal timer running
192K total FLASH with 64K used by SNAP OS
FHSS technology
Small, surface mount form factor
10-bit ADC
FCC/IC or CE certification
"These new modules expand our RF product family by offering a small footprint and unmatched levels of indoor performance using the sub-GHz band," said Wade Patterson, CEO and founder of Synapse Wireless. "These module's SMT packages allow OEMs to mount them using automated production tools and improve the overall product manufacturability while also freeing board space for other functions."
Markets served include energy and lighting, industrial control, healthcare, asset management, and many more. The SNAP network operating system supports Freescale, Panasonic, Atmel, Silicon Labs and California Eastern Laboratories; with many more semi-conductor companies in the process of SNAP ports.
The SM300PC1 and SM301PC1 RF Modules are available now and start at a MSRP of $21.50 for quantity one (volume discount available) from Future Electronics. For more information, visit
