Linetta Durand Joins American College of Education as Chair of Educational Leadership Department
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/11 -- Linetta Durand, Ed. D., has been named chair of the at .
Durand, who earned her doctorate in urban educational leadership and master's degree in educational administration from the , also holds a bachelor's degree in health science from .
"We are very fortunate to have Dr. Durand join our faculty with her strong background in leadership and service in both education and community endeavors," said Mary Bold, Ph.D., CFLE, academic dean of American College of Education. "Her many talents are reflected in the 2010 Distinguished Leadership Award in Research and Service granted by the city of Cincinnati. We are delighted to have those talents now in our College."
Previous positions held by Durand include adjunct professor at , Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. She has served as a principal of and superintendent of , both in Cincinnati.
The mayor of Cincinnati appointed Durand to serve for seven years as a member of the city's board of health. She was elected by her peers to serve as vice chair for one year and chair for two consecutive years.
Recognized for her expertise in curriculum development, Durand participated in science and education curriculum development at learning centers and academic institutions.
The educator began her professional career as the director of HIV/AIDS Programs and Youth Specialist for the . Durand has performed extensive research in morality-based leadership, ethics in leadership, equity in leadership, and HIV/AIDS infected students and administrators' and teachers' attitudes toward them.
