Misplaced sets its main focus on the author detailing his journey through adoption and the abuse he endured. Readers will likely find a particular interest in Buckley's experiences in the behavior modification school he went to, because the Academy at Ivy Ridge was featured in a recent Netflix docuseries "The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping".
This is the first book Buckley has authored. The book was written with the aim in mind to help the author in his healing journey while also hoping to help others with similar life experiences.

Colin Buckley is a two-time combat veteran, father, husband, and artist. Colin’s varied life experiences, including being adopted at birth, two tours overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, becoming a truck driver, farming, and raising his four kids, have given him a sincere and shockingly raw voice behind his work.
Buckley has hopes that the book will help to raise awareness about the troubled teen industry. In a recent interview by the author's local newspaper he said “I was a ghost. I just shut up because I noticed everybody who’s loud, they got pinpointed and they had a harder time in the program,” in reference to the time he spent at Ivy Ridge.
