New Cloud Computing Service Eliminates Barriers for Businesses

(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/11 -- Houston-based StratITsphere today announced a new cloud computing service that removes many of the weights that ground firms from taking full advantage of the growing cloud technology.

Dubbed Nimbus, the new offering eliminates barriers such as infrastructure costs, staffing requirements, long implementation times and security & availability concerns by leveraging StratITsphere's existing physical and intellectual resources.

"We're bringing together our other well-respected services to offer customers a superior cloud computing solution without the capital expense and long lead times of trying to build this level of quality infrastructure on their own," said Stephen Webster, president and CEO of StratITsphere. "Nimbus is housed in our new best-of-class data center and managed by some of the top IT infrastructure and security experts in the industry."

StratITsphere's IT infrastructure advisors can set up virtual servers or data centers in days rather than weeks, and can scale the infrastructure up or down based upon the customer's needs, he said.

"By eliminating the need to buy equipment, we turn a capital expense into a variable cost and spare customers the opportunity costs of buying a fixed infrastructure," Webster noted.

Nimbus is a managed cloud service, which means all backroom functions are operated by StratITsphere's staff, thus freeing customers from having to hire highly skilled personnel themselves, and allowing their IT staff members to focus on other internal matters.

Nimbus also eliminates many of the security concerns of cloud computing by using StratITsphere's Alpha data center facility, which boasts a Tier IV design, the best level of certification possible.

"The problem with making your systems and data available anywhere is that it can make them vulnerable everywhere," Webster said. "We've helped remove that weight by housing it at Alpha, and by having it watched over by the same team of security experts that protect the critical systems and data of Fortune 500 companies."

To further remove security, stability and availability concerns, StratITsphere partnered with several well-known names in the IT industry to create the offering. Nimbus is run on CA Technologies proven cloud backbone software and housed on NetApp enterprise-class storage. Excitor's superior DME (Dynamic Mobile Exchange) mobile platform provides Nimbus users with secure and reliable access to enterprise data and applications through mobile devices.

"Our customers need their data and systems to not only be safe but also constantly available to them," said Sean Curry, StratITsphere's vice president and chief technology officer. "So to make sure we maintained those high standards, we chose the best partner we could find so we could offer the best managed cloud services we could to our customers."

As another benefit, Nimbus lets customers know exactly where their data is instead of having it scattered on servers across the globe as is often the case with other cloud computing services.

"Customers are welcome to come visit their data in person," Webster said. "In fact, we'd be happy to give them a full tour of our Alpha data center."

Alpha is located just west of Houston.
