(firmenpresse) - SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/28/11 -- Project HIRED, whose job assistance services, training, career development, and employer services have helped thousands of people with disabilities find the right job with the right company for over 30 years, today announced details of their 9th Annual Harvest Moon Gala fundraiser. Scheduled for the evening of Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 5:30-9 PM, this annual dinner and live auction event brings together the corporate and individual supporters of Project HIRED throughout the Bay Area, including community leaders, public officials, and representatives from many leading Fortune 500 companies to celebrate the accomplishments of 2011 and launch fundraising efforts for 2012. Beloved KRON Sports Anchor Vern Glenn -- a favorite Gala emcee from the past -- returns to host the evening's program.

This year's keynote speaker is Chad Storlie, veteran and author of Combat Leader to Corporate Leader. Mr. Storlie, a retired US Army Reserve Special Forces officer with over 20 years of service in Iraq, Bosnia, Korea, and throughout the United States, is an authority on the transformation of military experience into private sector success. His remarks, titled "Tested and True: The Talent of the Veteran Workforce" will focus on the potential that veterans bring to their private sector careers and the advantages they offer to employers that employ and support them.

"What Project HIRED does is so vitally important... I'm delighted to speak at this year's Gala, and to have the chance to help in any way I can," Storlie said. "Since making my own transition from the world of military combat to the battle field of business, I've devoted myself to helping businesspeople understand the tremendous value our military men and women bring to the workplace. When it comes to our incredible wounded warriors, nobody advocates for them like Project HIRED."

NASA Ames Research Center Acting Deputy Director Deborah Feng will also speak. Ms. Feng oversees the management operations supporting aeronautics, information technology, science and space research programs at NASA Ames. Ms. Feng's remarks will focus on Ames Research Center efforts to include a diversity of employees with targeted disabilities as well as veterans.

During the event, special awards will be presented to Oracle, Yahoo!, Securitas, Lockheed Martin, Wells Fargo, Manpower, LiveOps, Monterey Institute of International Studies and others for their ongoing support of Project HIRED.

"The Harvest Moon Gala is a wonderful event for us on several levels," said Gwen Ford, Executive Director of Project HIRED. "It's our chance to say 'thank you' to corporate and individual sponsors and donors, and lets us do that during October's annual local and national focus on disability awareness. We love the fact that in one evening, we can continue to heighten awareness of disabled workers while honoring the people and businesses who have supported Project HIRED throughout the year."
