2010/11 NADbank Survey: Le Journal de Montreal Ahead for the Last 25 Years!

(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 09/29/11 -- Results of the 2010/11 NADbank Survey, which measured the readership rates of major dailies across the country from fall 2010 to spring 2011, confirm that Le Journal de Montreal has been ahead for the past 25 years! Le Journal de Montreal now has a weekly readership base of 1,194,400 readers(i), that is, 371,600 more readers than its closest competitor - for a solid 45.2% lead.(i)
Weekdays
Le Journal de Montreal attracts 615,000 readers, that is, 199,700 more readers than its closest competitor, an impressive 48.1% lead.
Saturdays
Le Journal de Montreal now has a total of 667,100 readers, that is, 122,000 more readers than its closest competitor (a 22.4% lead). Meanwhile, La Presse has seen its Saturday readership base shrink by 22,800 readers, a 4% drop.
Reader profile
Despite the web's power of attraction as a news source among the young, Le Journal de Montreal has seen its weekday readership grow in the 18-24 age group. Le Journal de Montreal now has 73,000 readers aged 18 to 24, that is, 10,000 more since the last survey, for a 16% increase. On a weekly basis, Le Journal de Montreal reaches more readers aged 18 to 24 than any other daily in Montreal.
Le Journal de Montreal also attracts more readers in the 35-49 age group: 10,900 more readers on weekdays (+7%), 11,900 more readers on Saturday (+6%) and 4,400 more readers on Sunday (+4%).
Average household income among Le Journal de Montreal readers has increased since the last survey and is now $72,813 among weekday readers (+5%), $71,587 among Saturday readers (+7%) and $72,064 among Sunday readers (+9%). Le Journal de Montreal now boasts a greater number of executives and professionals as part of its readership base: 18,400 more readers on weekdays (+23%), 3,500 more readers on Saturday (+4%) and 10,400 more readers on Sunday (+18%).
