Metso to supply biomass boiler plant to Sweden
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Metso Corporation's company release on October 20, 2009 at 09:00 a.m.Metso will supply Affärsverken i Karlskrona AB with a biomass boilerplant for combined heat and power production (CHP) in themunicipality of Karlskrona, Sweden. The boiler plant includingseveral auxiliary boilers will be delivered by the Metso-Wärtsiläjoint venture MW Power. Equipment related to environmental systemswill be delivered by Metso's Power business line. The total value ofthe order is approximately EUR 30 million. The start-up of the plantis scheduled for the first quarter of 2012. The order is included inEnergy and Environmental Technology's Q4 orders received.The biomass boiler plant will utilize bubbling fluidized bed (BFB)technology and will use wood chips as the main fuel. The plant willproduce approximately 36 MW of district heat for the Karlskrona areaand approximately 13 MW of electricity for the national grid. Withthe new plant, Affärsverken i Karlskrona will be able to fulfill thegrowing demand of district heat and increase the usage of biomass inheat and power generation.The municipality-owned company Affärsverken i Karlskrona is locatedin Karlskrona, South-East Sweden.
