in Gulf of Mexico
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - SeaBird is pleased to announce that the previously reported OceanBottom Node (OBN) survey for BP Exploration & Production Inc. hasbeen successfully completed by the SBX vessels Hugin Explorer andKondor Explorer in the Gulf of Mexico. The proprietary surveyrepresented the second stage (T1) of a time lapse program on theBP-operated Atlantis field. The survey required 500 nodes to be deployed and the removablesensors then positioned in the seabed accurately using ROV supportfrom the Hugin Explorer across a steep escarpment at depths rangingfrom 1300 to 2200 metres water depth. Operations started end July. The Kondor Explorer was used as the source vessel for the program. Asthe shooting program progressed, the Hugin Explorer was able torecover completed nodes and QC the data onboard simultaneously withthe ongoing shooting program. The shooting program was completed on19th September and all nodes were successfully recovered onboardHugin Explorer by 21st September. Onboard QC of all data was thencarried out. A total of 494 nodes were good for data acquisitionpurposes, six were found bad.The Hugin Explorer and the Kondor Explorer are now in mobilizationphase from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico for transit to Nigeria to carryout the previously announced Agbami field survey for Star DeepwaterPetroleum Limited, an affiliate of Chevron Nigeria Limited.Operations are expected to commence mid November after arrival andinward clearance of both vessels. An additional 250 Case Abyssdeepwater nodes will be loaded onboard enroute to Nigeria.CEO Tim Isden comments "We are extremely pleased that the operationof our OBN division has proved to be what we had expected, especiallyafter the late completion on our first survey in Angola. We havelearnt a great deal from both these operations, and we now feelconfident that the physical problems are behind us and that thequality of data acquired in both Angola and Gulf of Mexico will proveto be a key factor in the further development of OBN 4 componentreservoir imaging contracts. We are also pleased to report that dataowned by SeaBird from a proprietary test carried out in Gulf ofMexico prior to commencement of the BP Exploration & Production Inc.survey has now been licensed and sold to oil companies on anon-exclusive basis. Furthermore there is high interest in thisSeaBird technology evidenced by the volume of enquiries supported bythe subsequent Invitations To Tender requests now being received."For further queries contact:Tim IsdenCEO SeaBird ExplorationPhone: + 971 504 539075Kai Solberg-HansenCFO SeaBird ExplorationPhone: + 47 920 51455- - -SeaBird Exploration Limited (BVI) `SeaBird` is a global provider ofmarine 2D and 3D seismic data, solutions for seabed acquisition of4C/4D multimode seismic, and associated products and services to theoil and gas industry.
