Total Transit Inc., the Parent Company of Discount Cab, Wins a 2011 Arizona Corporate Excellence Award
(firmenpresse) - PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 09/29/11 -- Total Transit Inc., one of the largest transportation companies in the Southwest, has been ranked among the Top 50 Privately Held Companies in Arizona, earning them a second, consecutive Arizona Corporate Excellence Award.
Arizona's privately held companies generate revenues of over $15 billion per year and employ over 40,000 people. The goal of the ACE Awards is to recognize key companies among these for their investment into, and improvement of, the state's economy.
A company with humble beginnings, Discount Cab, which is a part of the broader company, Total Transit, was founded in 1984 by its current CEO, Craig Hughes, with a fleet of only 15 vehicles. The once small company has boomed into a thriving business that currently has nearly 700 vehicles in operation and over 1,500 contract drivers statewide. So it's no surprise that in the last year, Total Transit Inc. climbed the ranks, up four places on the ACE Awards list.

Hughes' continuous encouragement of innovation helped the company grow into what it is today. In the last 27 years, the company has created the largest fleet of Toyota Prius taxis in North America; has instituted the "Free Ride Back" program to keep inebriated drivers off the streets; and has created the Total Transit Foundation to give back to the community.
