Provisional contract award for the realisation of the A4 Delft-Schiedam motorway granted to the Boskalis, Heijmans, VolkerWessels (A4ALL) combination

The Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat)
is planning to award the realisation of the A4 Delft-Schiedam to the A4ALL
combination comprising Boskalis, Heijmans and VolkerWessels. The Heijmans part
of the contract is valued at more than ? 125 million. Rijkswaterstaat evaluated
the proposal submitted by the combination in terms of price and quality,
including the timely completion of the technical tunnel installations, the
quality of the design and the degree of hindrance for the surroundings. This
involves a design and construct contract.
It concerns the construction of the A4 between Delft and Schiedam, covering a
distance of approximately 7 kilometres consisting of a 2 kilometre land tunnel
including the technical installations, a aqueduct and ecoduct, a number of
crossing civil works, sound barriers along a 12 kilometre distance, the
maintenance of at least 8 years of the technical installations, the demolition
of the Kethelplein intersection, the installation of new covering layers on the
existing A4 North, the A20 and the A4 South and the maintenance of at least 8
years of the technical installations.
Work will commence in 2012 after final contract award and is expected to be
complete in 2015.
