4JET acquires Corning Laser Technologies GmbH
Leading technology for glass processing
(PresseBox) - The 4JET Group (Alsdorf) has acquired Corning Laser Technologies GmbH (Krailling). The acquisition makes the 4JET Group a market and technology leader for laser-based glass processing in Europe and North America.
The Krailling site will continue to operate as a center for glass processing within the 4JET Group.
In future, 4JET's product portfolio in the field of glass technology will include solutions from cutting micro components, wafers and displays up to substrates measuring several square meters for facades or photovoltaics. The company also offers solutions for the micro structuring of thin layers on glass.
Founder and CEO Jörg Jetter comments on the transaction: “With this acquisition, we gain ‘people, products and patents’ to strengthen our market position in laser-based glass processing with new employees, additional technologies and relevant intellectual property rights. We look forward to working closely with our new colleagues in Krailling.”
4JET develops laser systems for surface preparation, cleaning and functionalization of sensitive technical surfaces, as well as for the micromachining of glass and thin films.
Core markets include photovoltaics and technical glass processing, the tire industry and e-mobility, as well as the aerospace industry.
Since its foundation in 2006, the company has developed unique process technologies such as the PearlCut glass cutting process, the LEAF technology for surface modification by laser interference structuring and a range of laser processes for tool cleaning, surface preparation and product tracking.
The company employs more than 200 specialists, including numerous engineers and scientists, at its headquarters in Alsdorf (Germany) and its subsidiaries in Atlanta (USA) and Shanghai (China). 4JET holds over 100 patents and intellectual property rights and regularly invests more than 10% of its turnover in research and development.
