Nuclear power plants are reliable and "green" sources of electricity. In western Ireland, attempts are being made to use giant kites that can generate electricity from wind energy. These kites are around 60 square meters in size and harness high-altitude winds. Connected to a generator, the kite rises up to 400 meters into the air via a cable. Stored in batteries, a single kite is said to be capable of producing 336 kilowatt hours. When Storm Eowyn swept across Ireland in January 2025, such a kite was able to supply electricity while large parts of the country suffered power outages.

Before these innovative flying devices can really contribute to the power supply, questions regarding regulation, safety, and reliability still need to be investigated. Demand for nuclear power, and therefore uranium, is rising as the number of nuclear power plants grows, as does the demand for clean and reliable energy, especially in Asia. However, the supply of uranium is limited.

As the price of uranium remained low for a long time, major producers responded by cutting production. Now uranium is in short supply, and the price has risen and is on an upward trend. Medium-term prices of US$90 to US$100 per pound of uranium are generally expected. In September 2025, uranium futures in the US rose to more than US$83 per pound of uranium. This was the highest level in over a year.

Physical uranium funds are buying uranium, and the US, for example, wants to increase its uranium reserves. According to the World Nuclear Association, uranium demand for nuclear power will increase by around 28 percent by 2030. This should benefit uranium companies.

Uranium Energy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-energy-corp/ - owns diversified uranium holdings and ISR uranium projects in the US, with additional projects in Canada. Uranium mining, processing, refining, and conversion are part of the business.

IsoEnergy - https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/isoenergy-ltd/ - has high-grade uranium properties in Saskatchewan. Other uranium projects are located in Australia, Argentina, and the US. The Larocque East project in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan is particularly high-grade.
