(PresseBox) - What was once a simple serial code is now an entry point into digital supply chains, automated quality assurance, and data-driven services. Laser-based marking is becoming a platform for traceability, analysis, and innovation.
Trotec systems can engrave data matrix codes, serial numbers and standard data with a resolution of up to 1,000 dpi and an engraving depth of 0.1–0.3 mm. This data can be fed directly into MES systems and synchronised with cloud platforms.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and tier 1 suppliers are facing the challenge of digitising their production. Marking is becoming the interface between physical components and digital systems. According to Capgemini, 58% of automotive suppliers already use laser-based systems for traceability, and this figure is increasing.
This includes a brake manufacturer that uses Trotec laser systems to engrave serial numbers and QR codes. This data is automatically synchronised with the ERP system, enabling seamless traceability back to the casting batch.
