Re-monetization of silver in India

According to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, private pension funds are now permitted to invest more broadly in equities and gold and silver ETFs.

India's pension funds are investing in gold and silver. This means that 1.4 billion people can now invest in gold and silver. This affects trillions in future savings. For the national pension system and other regulated systems, this represents a structural change that could affect the price of gold and silver. Pension funds are not short-term investments; they accumulate, remain unused for decades, and are therefore likely to experience steadily growing demand. Model portfolios and automated monthly contributions can now be linked to precious metals. India is thus diversifying its retirement provisions.
Back in April, the Reserve Bank of India announced that silver would be accepted as collateral for loans from April 2026, giving silver a new role in the financial system. Gold already has this status as collateral for borrowers. The fact that households can now pawn their silver jewelry and silver coins, previously stored unused in cupboards, is likely to have an impact on investors worldwide. These two changes mean that long-term capital is now flowing into gold and silver, which is likely to create a long-term upward market for the two precious metals.
It is widely believed that the silver and gold rally will continue. India could play a causal role in this. Investing in gold and silver should therefore be worthwhile. This also applies to companies that extract the coveted precious metals from the ground or at least own promising deposits in the ground.

The focus is now on increasing production and minimizing costs. A second promising project in Mexico is part of the portfolio.
