The first 525 kilometers of the planned transregional hydrogen pipeline network in this country will be completed by the end of 2025. This will mainly involve converting existing natural gas pipelines. According to current plans, the hydrogen pipeline network is to grow to 9,040 kilometers by 2032. The direction is clear: in the future, hydrogen will play an important role alongside electricity from renewable sources. Battery-electric solutions are becoming increasingly popular in the passenger car sector.
Hydrogen is primarily considered a possible climate-friendly solution for heavy-duty transport and longer ranges. Hydrogen technology requires raw materials such as platinum and palladium for the catalysts in electrolysers and for fuel cells. Platinum and palladium in particular therefore play an important role in the production, storage and use of hydrogen. Nickel and copper are also needed. Heavy machinery such as construction equipment and tractors are considered particularly challenging when it comes to alternative drive systems. In agricultural vehicles, the weight, usability, and large space requirements of hydrogen technology pose a challenge.
There are also new developments in the field of hydrogen. The hydrogen is not stored in tanks, but in a storage unit integrated into the rear wheel of the tractor. The amount of hydrogen is sufficient for normal agricultural use. With the expansion of the hydrogen pipeline network and the increasing use of hydrogen, the demand for platinum and palladium is growing. After all, what all environmentally friendly technologies need are the appropriate raw materials.

Its projects are located in the US and South Africa. Battery metals such as nickel, chromium, copper, and cobalt, as well as recycling, are also part of its business.
