TÜV SÜD first provider of PCF verification and PCF Program Certification according to Catena-X
Dr Jonas Johannisson is now“Verifier&Certifier”
(PresseBox) - TÜV SÜD is currently the first and only company authorised to offer PCF verification and PCF program certification in accordance with the Catena-X standard. This is based on the appointment of Dr Jonas Johannisson as the first officially appointed “Verifier & Certifier” for these two service areas in the Catena-X ecosystem. This means that TÜV SÜD is authorised to check the conformity of individual product carbon footprints and to systematically certify overarching PCF programs and calculation processes.
Catena-X's goal is to enable the standardised, trustworthy and interoperable exchange of sustainability data along industrial value chains. Independent verification and certification play a particularly important role in ensuring transparency, comparability and regulatory connectivity in product carbon footprints (PCFs). The Catena-X PCF approach is based on clearly defined calculation methods and the use of primary data, as well as connectivity to internationally established standards such as ISO 14067 and industry standards such as the one developed for the chemical industry by Together for Sustainability.
“Reliable PCF data is a prerequisite for credible climate strategies and robust decision-making in global supply chains,” says Dr Jonas Johannisson, expert in greenhouse gas assurance at TÜV SÜD. “The fact that TÜV SÜD is the first and currently the only company authorised to provide these services in accordance with Catena-X underlines our commitment to building trust in digital sustainability ecosystems and the data exchanged within them. At the same time, we are helping to shape the transition to scalable and automated CO2 accounting systems. The standards developed by Catena-X enable us to respond to these developments.”
TÜV SÜD is contributing its many years of experience in testing, verifying and certifying sustainability and climate data to Catena-X. This includes participating in the further development of assurance concepts for PCF data that take into account the requirements of international standards and future regulatory requirements, for example in the context of the EU Green Deal regulatory package. These requirements include those from the EU Battery Regulation, the CSRD and, in the future, the development of digital product passports.
By achieving this qualification, TÜV SÜD is reinforcing its position as a trusted, independent partner for industrial companies seeking to utilise, exchange and protect PCF data within the Catena-X network.
