Greenhouse Gas Protocol Launches New Standards for Corporate Value Chain and Products
ENVIRON's Grice and Covell Serve on Standards Team
(firmenpresse) - ARLINGTON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/06/11 -- Ewire -- On Tuesday the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, a decade-long partnership between the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, launched two new standards that will empower businesses to measure, manage and report their greenhouse gas emissions more effectively. The Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) and Product Life Cycle Standards will enable companies to save money, reduce risks and gain competitive advantages. Lisa Nelowet Grice, Principal and North America Sustainability practice leader for global environmental and health consultancy ENVIRON, served as one of only five private-sector senior advisors, along with WRI and WBCSD advisors, on both referenced protocols. Grice and Dave Covell, Principal in the firm's European energy management practice, both served on the Technical Working Group of the Product Footprinting protocol.

According to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, these groundbreaking standards establish the first internationally agreed-upon approaches for measuring and reporting GHG emissions throughout product life cycles and corporate value chains. Companies that use the standards will be able to create better products and improve efficiency throughout the value chain.
