Drive-by-wire pioneers are sponsoring Dörr Motorsport during the Nürburgring 24-hour race—featuring the iconic Schumacher design and in support of the Keep Fighting Foundation

(PresseBox) - Arnold NextG is participating in the sponsorship of Dörr Motorsport at the 2026 Nürburgring 24-Hour Race. The McLaren 720S GT3 Evo will compete in a design inspired by the legendary Benetton B195, with which Michael Schumacher won his second Formula 1 world championship title in 1995. The drivers’ suits also reflect the iconic retro look; two suits will be auctioned off after the race to benefit the Keep Fighting Foundation.

“This year, we are part of a very special project at the 24-hour race—with a car dedicated to Michael Schumacher and, above all, his foundation,” says Kevin Arnold, CEO of Arnold NextG. “We are proud to have our name visible here.”

The project combines motorsport history with social responsibility. The attention surrounding the vehicle also benefits the Keep Fighting Foundation, which is committed to social projects. For Arnold NextG, this commitment is an expression of an attitude deeply rooted in the company’s history.

The development of electronic vehicle control systems originated in this context, initially driven by the need for mobility solutions for people with disabilities—largely shaped by the entrepreneurial initiatives of Paravan GmbH and its founder, Roland Arnold, the global market leader in vehicle conversions for people with severe physical disabilities. Driven by this commitment, solutions were developed over 25 years ago that are now considered key technologies for autonomous and software-defined vehicles.

Today, Roland Arnold’s sons, Kevin and Luca, continue this tradition with Arnold NextG—with the goal of making technology more powerful, safer, and consistently inclusive.

Motorsport as a Development Platform

For Arnold NextG, motorsports is far more than just a stage—it is a highly dynamic testing and validation environment under extreme conditions. CEO Kevin Arnold also knows this environment from his own experience as a race car driver and understands how crucial the racetrack is for the development of new technologies. “We originally come from motorsports and have gained a great deal of experience there with the development of steer-by-wire—even in 24-hour races without a mechanical connection,” says Kevin Arnold. “For us, this is not a new environment, but one to which we will return.”

Under motorsport conditions, systems are not only developed but also validated under maximum pressure. High speeds, changing track conditions, and continuous stress turn every lap into a real-world stress test. At the same time, the environment acts as a development accelerator: insights are gained in the shortest possible time and immediately incorporated into further development.

NX NextMotion: Control as the Foundation of Future Mobility

With NX NextMotion, Arnold NextG is developing a control platform for vehicles that combines electronic control, safety, and monitoring in a single system. It enables fully electronic control of steering, braking, propulsion, and other functions—designed for autonomous, remote-controlled, and software-defined applications.

In the motorsports context, testing is particularly focused on steer-by-wire technology in combination with precise force feedback: Mechanical connections are replaced by digital control, while the driver or operator receives a controlled and reliable sense of feedback at all times.

“With steer-by-wire in particular, it’s not just about replacing a mechanical connection,” explains Kevin Arnold. “It’s about redefining control—digitally, safely, and with a driving feel that builds confidence.”

The platform is designed to be multi-redundant and fail-operational. This ensures that vehicle movement remains controllable even in the event of a malfunction—a key prerequisite for future mobility concepts. “Motorsports is and remains a crucial testing ground for us,” says Kevin Arnold. “Here, every tenth of a second counts—and the ability to control systems under all conditions.”

For Arnold NextG, participation in the Nürburgring 24-hour race thus represents more than mere brand presence. It connects heritage, values, and the future—and underscores the company’s ambition to create the technological foundation for the next generation of mobility. After all, safe control is the foundation of autonomous mobility.
