"These individuals, and thousands of other volunteers across the country, dedicate their time and expertise to help make our communities safer," said Denise Dubyk, MADD Canada National President. "We are truly thankful for, and inspired by, the contributions they have made to addressing the problem of impaired driving and supporting those affected by this violent and senseless crime."
On average, about 4 Canadians are killed every day, and another 190 are inured, in impairment-related crashes.
Ms. Dubyk urged all Canadians to help make this Thanksgiving weekend free from impaired driving crashes by planning ahead for a safe ride home.
"Arrange for a cab or designated driver, take public transit or arrange to stay the night," Ms. Dubyk said. "And if you see a driver you suspect is impaired, please alert police by calling 911."
