(PresseBox) - Tsz Ching (Jessica) Chan has been pursuing a master’s degree in Management and Digital Technologies at TUM Campus Heilbronn since fall 2025. Since then, she has also been a recipient of the Germany Scholarship for the 2025/26 funding period. The 24-year-old is thrilled about this recognition.

“Oh wow, so excited.” That was her first reaction when Tsz Ching Chan learned she was one of the 33 recipients of the 2025/26 Germany Scholarship at TUM Campus Heilbronn. A devout Christian who was born in Hong Kong and raised in the U.S. and Taiwan, she considers this support for her living and tuition expenses a great blessing.

International atmosphere

During her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan, she spent a semester abroad at the University of Tübingen in 2023 and realized: “Germany could be a good place for me to study in the future.” The Master’s program in Management and Digital Technologies at TUM Campus Heilbronn—taught in English, no less—the university’s strong reputation, and the absence of tuition fees led her to decide to complete her Master’s in Heilbronn. Aside from what she considers the cafeteria’s too-short opening hours, Jessica’s expectations have been met. The 24-year-old particularly enjoys the international atmosphere on campus and its modern facilities.

Looking to the future, Tsz Ching Chan places a very high value on the importance of digital technologies—such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR), where users immerse themselves in a computer-generated, interactive environment. Her master’s program combines precisely these aspects with in-depth knowledge of management, marketing, and finance. This opens up many career paths for her after graduation: In addition to the idea of going into teaching, Tsz Ching Chan could envision a career in the sports industry. She is convinced that analytical digital technologies have a positive effect on the performance of professional athletes. Furthermore, she finds the tourism sector interesting, where VR is becoming increasingly crucial. Using a dedicated app and VR glasses, for example, travelers to Rome could immerse themselves in the life of the city on the Tiber 1,000 years ago: “living history” for tourists. Tsz Ching Chan also ponders how AI will influence people’s religious lives in the future: Can AI be a tool for interpreting religious texts? But might this lead to a loss of personal connection to religion?

Tsz Ching Chan does not yet want to plan which country she will work in. The world is changing rapidly, she explains. She would much rather keep her options open: “That way, many possibilities remain open to me.”

Committed and athletic

Her optimism has also paid off regarding her Germany Scholarship. Tsz Ching Chan suspects that she was selected by her sponsor, the Dieter Schwarz Foundation in Heilbronn, not only because of her academic achievements. Her volunteer work may also have been a deciding factor. In her home country, for example, she taught English to children as part of the “Church Day Care” program. “I love watching children develop,” explains the master’s student. She was also active at TEDx as Head Marketing Coordinator. This involves a program for locally organized, independent events aimed at sharing ideas and fostering exchange among people. Additionally, she served as volleyball head captain during her bachelor’s studies. “I’ve tried my hand at a lot of things,” she explains with a smile.

And what does the 24-year-old do when she has a little free time? In addition to video games or reading, Jessica focuses on sports. Just as she did during her bachelor’s studies, she has joined a volleyball team again in Heilbronn. She also enjoys jogging or swimming. Especially in winter, she sees sports as a healthy balance, which in turn has a positive impact on her academic performance.
