When it comes to the price of gold, interested parties and experts always look at the strength or weakness of the U.S. dollar, central bank purchases, geopolitical risks, real interest rates, and ETF demand. The latter is a key factor. Currently, gold appears to be regaining its appeal as a hedging vehicle. On the one hand, ETF inflows reflect the sentiment of retail and institutional investors in the market; on the other hand, they generate demand in the physical market. And gold-backed ETFs and similar products account for a significant portion of the gold market.
In April, capital inflows from virtually all regions turned positive. Following significant outflows in March, globally physically backed gold ETFs recorded inflows of $6.6 billion in April, according to the World Gold Council. Compared to March, this represented a one percent increase to 4,137 tons of gold, which is still the third-highest level on record.
There will always be headwinds for the gold price. In the long term, however, sentiment is generally positive. In the anniversary edition of the “In Gold We Trust” report, Ronald-Peter Stöferle also forecasts a gold price of $8,900 for the year 2030. The target of $4,800 by 2030 previously set out in the report has already become a reality in 2026.
GoGold Resources (- https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/gogold-resources-inc/ -), debt-free, produces gold and silver in Mexico. In the second quarter ending March 31, 2026, the company produced over 230,000 ounces of silver, approximately 2,500 ounces of gold, as well as 84 metric tons of copper and 93 metric tons of zinc, for a total of nearly 400,000 ounces of silver equivalent. The Parral Tailings Project is located in the state of Chihuahua. The company expects construction to begin soon on the advanced Los Ricos underground mining project. With ongoing revenue, Los Ricos North and Los Ricos South can be developed optimally.
Osisko Development (- https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/osisko-development-corp/ -) owns, among other assets, the flagship Cariboo Gold project (Canada, 100 percent). Production at Cariboo (approximately 190,000 ounces of gold annually over ten years) is scheduled to begin in 2027. A well-funded 70,000-meter drilling program is underway at Cariboo to investigate potential resource growth.
