(firmenpresse) - SANTA BARBARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/10/11 -- Green Hills Software, the largest independent vendor of embedded software solutions, today announced that HCC-Embedded has introduced an abstraction layer that allows all of its embedded middleware to operate seamlessly with Green Hills Software's . Developers using the µ-velOSity microkernel now have access to an unrivaled selection of networking and storage software from both companies.

HCC middleware products are supplied fully integrated with the µ-velOSity microkernel and include sample projects running on standard development boards. This approach to delivery significantly reduces the time required to establish stable platforms.

HCC-Embedded is exclusively focused on developing efficient and comprehensive middleware for communications and storage applications. This includes a broad range of USB, file system and TCP/IP solutions with support for many features that are not widely available from other sources. Examples include USB device and host, with support for all endpoint types, including isochronous, as well as a very broad range of class drivers. Sophisticated wear leveling and bad block management are standard features of HCC's file systems. HCC's failsafe file systems are now available for use with the µ-velOSity microkernel to help provide a high degree of system integrity.

Christopher Smith, vice president of marketing at Green Hills Software, commented: "The combination of Green Hills Software's µ-velOSity microkernel with HCC-Embedded's middleware will provide a comprehensive software resource. This will enable embedded systems designers to reduce their time-to-market while creating efficient, high performance systems."
