New Lumatix Atrium Designer 2012 Speeds True Global Illumination Preview Rendering to under a Second
3D-Artists can now significantly speed-up their projects with real-time Autodesk 3ds Max previews
(firmenpresse) - Erlangen, Germany, October 11, 2011: Lumatix GmbH today unveils an innovative Autodesk® 3ds Max plug-in that improves project pre-visualization rendering times from hours and days to seconds, making it possible to use standard computers for complex digital graphics applications.
Working up to 500,000 times faster than comparable solutions, Lumatix Atrium Designer 2012 provides real-time preview rendering seamlessly integrated as an Autodesk® 3ds Max Viewport. With the new version of Atrium Designer 2012 Service Pack 3, users can ’gain time’ to improve true global illumination in milliseconds – while maximizing quality by ensuring digital light simulations are the most realistic ever.
Long and unproductive waiting times for computers to finish processing lighting calculations with each small change are now a thing of the past. Atrium Designer heralds a new generation of lighting effects for visualizations, architecture, film, design, computer games and advertising. 3D visualizers – among them architects, interior designers and industry designers – can use the new innovative Lumatix Atrium Core Technologie® to produce designs and drafts far more efficiently. Changes can be coordinated with the artists’ clients in real time, for example reviewing together on-screen, or even using web-based collaboration tools.
With the new release of Atrium Designer 2012 Service Pack 3, changes to indirect light on materials, lighting, camera, geometry and post-processing in Autodesk 3ds Max Viewport can be carried out in milliseconds in the Atrium Designer Viewport, enabling client decisions and subsequent changes to be made instantly. As a result, animation and still-image rendering can now be previewed genuinely in real time to speed projects by up to 80%.
3D-Artists can now benefit from new algorithms that hasten indirect-light response time and improve shadow sampling of area lights and plane-light direct illumination. In addition, the new update adds the possibility for local and environment reflections, so glossy reflections of objects can be visible in the Autodesk® 3ds Max Viewport and shows environment without any occlusion.

Christian Heckl, Managing Director and CTO at Lumatix GmbH, says: “With this new version of Atrium Designer, Lumatix is realizing our vision of calculating dynamic global lighting in genuine real time – fully interactively and to a very high quality. We are continually improving our award-winning software and appreciate the feedback from the Lumatix Tech-Community to tell us what new features they most value.”
