Energistics and WITSML Facilitate an Implementation Work Group

(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- The WITSML Special Interest Group of the upstream industry open standards organization, Energistics, announced today the formation of an industry work group to promote the implementation of the WITSML "stimJob Object" for data exchange on hydraulic fracturing for stimulation of oil and natural gas wells.

This WITSML "stimJob Object" creates a first of its kind post-job summary report of observations made during the job with interpretations of observed data allowing the fracturing service companies to create and immediately transmit a seamless electronic report to the operator in a standardized manner. The Implementation Work Group will focus on aligning the oil and natural gas industry into freely exchanging hydraulic fracturing and stimulation data using this new "stimJob Object."

The Implementation Work Group is being led by David Bergeron of Shell with participation from Anadarko, Baker Hughes, BP, Chesapeake, Chevron, Devon Energy, ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Oxy, Petrolink, Pioneer, Schlumberger, Statoil, and TOTAL with an open invitation to others in the industry interested in data exchange on Frac Job Summary Data. The Implementation Team will meet regularly via conference calls to develop implementation schemes and use cases and to promote the adoption of the WITSML "stimJob Object."

Energistics is a global, not-for-profit consortium uniquely designed to unite upstream oil and natural gas industry professionals in a neutral and collaborative facilitation environment to develop and deploy open data exchange standards and to address E&P information challenges. Membership consists of integrated, independent and national oil companies, oilfield service companies, hardware and software vendors, system integrators, regulatory agencies and the global standards user community.
