The Free Online Learning Environment Provides Educators a Single Point of Access for Finding, Obtaining and Using Free and Fee-Based, Standards-Aligned, Digital Content

(firmenpresse) - AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- TCEA, the largest state organization devoted to the use of technology in education, and Learning.com, a longtime provider of digital instruction to Texas classrooms, announced today the launch of the Texas Instructional Materials Exchange (TIME). TIME is a marketplace that provides a single point of entry for teachers to search for, obtain, create and assign educationally proven, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) aligned, and safe digital content.

According to recent studies, a majority of teachers use digital content daily, but are challenged by the time required to find educationally appropriate, standards-aligned content. Potential resources are in disparate locations, and may include sources teachers do not know exist, including content created by their peers and even content licensed by their own districts. TIME will help Texas teachers efficiently find, choose and use these resources.

"Our goal with TIME is to maximize the value we bring to our members and educators across Texas," says Lori Gracey, TCEA Executive Director. "TIME will enable Texas teachers to harness the power of technology and digital resources in their classrooms."

When teachers log into TIME, they will be able to use their password-protected resources without stopping to log in at other sites -- this is referred to as a single sign-on. Teachers can search for what they need, see their results in a consistent and easy-to-use format, organize and assign their choices to students, and track student progress much more efficiently than ever before.

"Over the last seven years, Texas teachers have taught us a lot about how they would like to find, choose, obtain, create and use all types of digital resources," says Bill Kelly, Learning.com CEO. "We've listened. And we've translated this learning into the design of TIME -- from teacher-friendly tools to a broad offering of free and fee-based resources and professional development services. We are proud to be part of this TCEA initiative and look forward to continuing to support the students and educators of Texas."
