Visual Math 2 is for 6-9 year olds or children who have already mastered Visual Math Level 1. Designed for visual and multi-sensory learners, this game employs sounds, pictures and bonus activities. It contains six topics presented in random rounds of twelve questions. Using colorful photographic images of everyday objects, players are asked to determine patterns and sequences, identify shapes, recognize numbers by skip counting (a precursor to multiplication), read clocks, count coins and master concepts of basic spatial measurement.
Unlike many app offerings, Visual Math 2 is NOT a worksheet brought to the iPad -- it is a rich, interactive experience and game. Feedback, animations and background theme choices promote varied game play. Players drag, move, select, listen, arrange and watch. Game rounds are separated with amusing musical interludes.
Adding to the motivation, Visual Math 2 awards points for each correct answer. Points are then applied to a creative bonus activity: making 'BadgeArt' collages. In the BadgeArtMaker players design digital collages with images they select from the app and from photos already on their iPad. Kids can save, email or share their BadgeArt on Twitter or Facebook.
Visual Math 2 adapts to each player. Three levels of challenge advance as the child masters them, topic by topic, not automatically with use. Parents monitor performance on the Progress Page, which tracks categories, rounds and cumulative activity. Topics are aligned with national math core standards for 1st and 2nd grades.
