Heijmans sells Heitkamp Rail to Eiffage
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands - Heijmans NV ('Heijmans') hasreached agreement on the acquisition by Eiffage Travaux Publics SAS,a fully-owned subsidiary of EIFFAGE SA, of all shares in rail builderHeitkamp Rail GmbH and Heijmans Rail B.V. ('Heitkamp Rail'). Therelevant competition authorities will be consulted. The acquisitionprice will be paid in cash.Heitkamp Rail is an international multidisciplinary rail contractor.The company's home market is Germany, with references in France,Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Poland, Scandinavia,the Middle East, Taiwan and China. Heitkamp Rail owns a wide range ofspecialised rail equipment for ballasted track construction. HeitkampRail also provides rail track related civil engineering andconstruction and has its own maintenance services. A unique HeitkampRail asset is the knowledge of engineering and construction of highspeed rail tracks. Heitkamp Rail is one of the few railwayconstruction companies with international references in elaboratingnoise and vibration protection systems for light and heavyrail. Including its joint activities Heitkamp Rail recorded sales ofapproximately ?90 million in 2008. Heitkamp Rail currently hasapproximately 300 employees.The strategy of Heijmans is to concentrate on the Dutch home market,where the company holds major market positions in projectdevelopment, building, infrastructure and technical services. Thesale of Heitkamp fits within this strategy. The transaction proceedswill be used to reduce debt and can be considered as a logical stepto further deleverage the company.The Eiffage Group is active in the full spectrum of building, energy,infrastructure construction and concessions. Its activities includebuilding and developing properties, road construction and civilengineering, multi-technical installations, metallic construction andfacade construction, and concessions.
