(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 10/20/11 -- The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN®) has launched a newly designed and enhanced website at .

Based on extensive research and analysis into what ncsbn.org visitors need and want from the website, changes were made that make the menus more intuitive, especially for users unfamiliar with the site and the organization. The new offers a clean and refined design scheme with appealing graphics.

The website now presents specially designed portals for the general public and the nursing community. The "General Public" section of the site offers definitions for common nursing terms; an explanation about boards of nursing and how they function to protect the public; and links to resources and the 60 board of nursing websites in the U.S. and its territories. The "For the Nursing Community" section includes information for licensed nurses, certified nurse aides and nursing students. Featuring research highlights, updates on practice and education, and information about the nurse licensure compact, the portal also provides a subsection for NCLEX, NNAAP and MACE examinations candidates.

Another prominent feature of the enhanced site is the communications library that offers books, research briefs, newsletters, white papers and brochures downloadable free of charge.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN®) is a not-for-profit organization whose members include the boards of nursing in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and four U.S. territories -- American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands. There are also nine associate members. Mission: NCSBN provides education, service and research through collaborative leadership to promote regulatory excellence for patient safety and public protection.

The statements and opinions expressed are those of NCSBN and not the individual member state or territorial boards of nursing.
