Inspiring First Joint Appearance by Founders of Drupal, Wordpress

The video from SchipulCon 2011, posted at , features a frank discussion about the similarities and differences of the two leading open source platforms and where they are headed in the future.
SchipulCon 2011 (), with the theme, "Create. Profit. Reach," was a marketing, technology and business conference for Houston's business-savvy and tech-curious crowd. The event attracted more than 200 participants, 40 presenters covering a broad array of subjects including the future of social, search engines, space exploration, robots and open source.
"The on-stage mashup of the founders of Drupal and WordPress was a great illustration of what we set out to accomplish: make the world a better place through extraordinary thinking, smart technology and cross-industry creativity," said organizer Katie Laird.
During their joint appearance, Buytaert credited Mullenweg for his early decision to start a company and his focus on usability. Mullenweg said he has been a Drupal developer for eight years and envies Drupal's third party developer community. He also noted for the SchipulCon audience that WordPress has its roots in Houston -- the result of seeking refuge from the city's long, hot summers.
