"Funky Victorian" Line to Take Center Stage at Premier Three-Day West Coast Fashion Showcase
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/21/11 -- Karen Capili, one of the newest and most talked-about designers on the West Coast, will debut her inaugural line of couture at the L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios at a gala event on Saturday, October 22. Capili is know for her use of bright vivid colors from the 1980s, which she cleverly intertwines with Victorian-era designs to create unique pieces that reflect divergent time periods yet create a distinctive look that is bold and dramatic, yet also classical and formal.
Capili's Spring/Summer 2012 line will be shown as part of L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios on Saturday, October 22 at 8:00 p.m. A cocktail reception will be held prior to the show beginning at 6:00 p.m., with an after-party at the trendy nightclub Tru Hollywood.
"I am very eager for the industry to get a sense of my vision and a feel for my imagination that is expressed through my use of different colors, textures, fabrics and styles," said Capili. "This line of couture brings together my love of formality and romanticism with the excitement of the hipness that was embodied during the 1980s."
Among the designs Capili has selected for her show is an eco-friendly dress made with reusable bags used in supermarkets. "Fashion needs to reflect the environmental movement," said Capili. "Not just in the design, but in the materials and construction as well."
Most of Capili's couture pieces, which will be sold in specialty boutiques across the country, will retail for $750-$2,250. Her ready-to-wear line, which will debut in Fall/Winter 2012, will be reflective of her couture line in its overall look and feel.
Mikey Koffman, founder and CEO of The Gallery LA, is the producer and mastermind behind L.A. Fashion Weekend. Prior to launching the annual three-day event, the Los Angeles native produced international runway shows in New York and Paris.
