Nutreco opens state-of-the-art feed specialties plant in Italy
(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Today Nutreco opens an advanced feed specialties production plantthat features a high level of environmental responsibility. The plantis in Mozzecane, Italy, creating a single site for three brands ofNutreco: Trouw Nutrition and Farmix feed specialties and Skrettingfish feeds, which are produced in a plant already located on theMozzecane site. This new feed specialties plant integrates and willreplace the production of the Trouw Nutrition plant in Bussolengo andthe former BASF plant in Comun Nuovo, acquired in 2007. Hence Nutrecocaptures synergies within Trouw Nutrition while the locationfacilitates synergies between Trouw Nutrition feed specialties andSkretting fish feeds.The new plant will manufacture Trouw Nutrition and Farmix products inwhat is one of the most technically evolved and advanced productionfacilities in the industry. Thanks to its modern systems of dosage,mixing and packing, it will fully embrace the European regulation onfeed hygiene (EC: No 183/2005). Further, the plant will be FAMI-QSand GMP compliant, in line with the 'best practice' codes ofproduction in the European Community.The feed specialties plant covers a surface area of 4,600 squaremetres and comprises an area for raw material stocking and dosage, aprocessing tower, a finished products warehouse and offices. Theprocessing tower is 32 m high to guarantee a vertical flow of theprocess, which minimises the risk of cross contamination betweenproducts. The dosage system utilises the principle of 'loss inweight', assuring a high production capacity as the calibration ofraw material happens simultaneously. The plant also features anautomatic labelling system, which cuts manual error in the selectionand application of labels while enabling complete traceability ofproducts and assuring elevated safety standards.Nutreco continues to invest in quality in every single phase of themanufacturing cycle from the selection of raw materials to research,to excellence throughout the production process to the finishedproduct and delivery to the client.
