Wrapsol Asks United States Patent and Trademark Office to Declare That Zagg's Patent Should Not Have Been Granted

ID: 79819

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/11 -- Cooley Manion Jones LLP and Miele Law Group, P.C., on behalf of their client Wrapsol, LLC, filed a request for an inter partes reexamination of Zagg Intellectual Properties, Inc.'s (Zagg's) U.S. Patent No. 7,957,524 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on October 18, 2011.

Zagg, which owns the '524 Patent, accused Wrapsol and several other companies of infringement. Wrapsol not only denied these allegations in court, but, with this filing, Wrapsol now asks the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (the USPTO) to decide that the '524 Patent should not have been granted at all.

The request presents serious challenges to the patentability of all claims in the '524 Patent, based on prior art. Wrapsol asserts that it is therefore reasonably likely to prevail in its challenge of the validity of the patent. The inter partes nature of the challenge will allow Wrapsol to continue to advocate for the invalidity of the patent before the USPTO.

Wrapsol engineers, manufactures in the U.S., and distributes worldwide, the easiest to apply and strongest protective film technology for mobile devices. Made from advanced high strength polyurethane and featuring a 100% dry application process that clears air bubbles and uses fingerprint-eliminating patent-pending Application Handles for the perfect fit, Wrapsol's transparent and astonishingly thin protective film installs in an instant and helps prevent everyday dings, dents and scratches, while preserving touchscreen brilliancy and sensitivity.
