Central government payments gave a deficit in October

ID: 8026

(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Swedish central government payments resulted in a deficit of SEK 19.6billion in October. The Debt Office's forecast was SEK 14.3 billion. The difference is explained by displacements of payments betweenmonths within the Debt Office's net lending and will thus not affectthe annual outcome. The Debt Office's net lending was SEK 9 billion higher thancalculated. The main explanation is on-lending to the Riksbank of SEK5 billion. This on-lending is temporary and is due to refinancing ofmaturing loans. The new loans that the Debt office has taken onbehalf of the Riksbank do not have the same payment dates as thematuring loans. Since the payments are carried out on differentmonths this will have the opposite effect in November. Also otherdifferences within the Debt Office's net lending are mainly oftemporary nature.Disbursements from authorities were SEK 4 billion lower thancalculated. Tax payments developed in line with forecast.Interest payments on central government debt were SEK 1.6 billion, which is SEK 0.1 billion lower than calculated. For the twelve-month period up to the end of October, centralgovernment payments resulted in a deficit of SEK 178 billion. Centralgovernment debt amounted to SEK 1,110 billion at the end of October. The outcome for November will be published at 9.30 am on 7 December2009.Further information can be obtained from:Tord Arvidsson, phone +46 8 613 47 53http://hugin.info/133745/R/1353043/327649.pdfThis announcement was originally distributed by Hugin.
