General Motors October Sales Up Nine Per Cent

(firmenpresse) - OSHAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 11/01/11 -- Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 19,542 vehicles in October, led by growing demand for the Canadian-built compact crossovers, the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, which saw increased sales of 12 per cent compared to last year. Overall, General Motors increased its sales by nine per cent and was the industry sales leader in October.
"With the Chevrolet Volt, Sonic and Orlando recently arriving in dealerships, Canadian customers are excited about the transformed Chevrolet vehicle line-up," said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing at GM of Canada. "The Chevrolet Cruze, Canadian Car of the Year, continues to win new customers having sold approximately one million units worldwide since launching in 2009."
The Chevrolet Cruze again posted strong sales in October, completing its first full year of Canadian sales with over 32,000 units sold. The Canadian-built Buick Regal, with an expanded line-up including the fuel-efficient eAssist and the high-output GS, increased sales 128%.
GM's full-size pickup truck sales increased by 23 per cent overall compared to last year. The Chevrolet Silverado posted a 14 per cent increase and the GMC Sierra increased by 31 per cent.

Total GM sales (including discontinued brands) increased by nine per cent compared to last October.
