(Thomson Reuters ONE) - KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 13.11.2009 AT 9.00 1(2)The Kesko Group's sales from continuing operations in October 2009totalled ?725.7 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.9%compared with the previous year. In January-October the salestotalled ?7,112.0 million (excluding VAT), which is down by 13.4%.In the food trade, sales in October were ?323.5 million, a decreaseof 5.5%. Sales to the K-food store chains were down by 3.1%. Thenumber of selling days in October 2009 was one less than in theprevious year.In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in October were ?139.3million, an increase of 2.0%. The sales of clothing developed best.In the building and home improvement trade, sales in October were?201.4 million, a decrease of 22.5%. Sales in Finland were down by24.6%, which can, above all, be attributed to the decrease in B-to-Bsales and in the sales of agricultural supplies. In foreigncountries, sales decreased by 20.8% in terms of euros, and by 17.5%in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic countries, sales weredown by 42.6%. In Russia, sales dropped by 22.6% in terms of euros,and by 4.8% in terms of the local currency.In the car and machinery trade, VV-Auto's sales in October were ?48.1million, which is down by 33.6% compared with the previous year. Inaddition to the market downturn in the car trade, the salesperformance was affected by the car tax act which came into force inApril, because of which car tax levied on cars after 1 April 2009 isnot included in sales figures. The share of passenger cars importedby VV-Auto out of new registrations was 18.5% (17.9%) in October.Konekesko's sales in October were ?30.4 million, down by 39.8%. The total number ofselling days in January-October was four less than in the previousyear. The number of retail selling days in October was 26, which isone less than in the previous year.
