CardioSoft Diagnostic System and CASE ES Ergospirometry Testing System showcased in Düsseldorf, Germany

(firmenpresse) - DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY, NOVEMBER 20th, 2009 – GE Healthcare brings two new diagnostic cardiology systems to the MEDICA trade fair this year. The CardioSoft Diagnostic System and the CASE ES Ergospirometry Testing System provide more advanced ECG technology that connects the hearts of patients to the minds of physicians around the globe.

GE Healthcare CardioSoft Diagnostic System: Clinically connected. Simply smart.
GE’s CardioSoft Diagnostic System is a PC-based “all in one” acquisition and storage software that provides high quality clinical data for resting ECG, stress testing and pulmonary functions. This integrated solution connects seamlessly to EMRs and eliminates the need for clinicians to store ECG paper records. Ideal for the physician office, it also connects to GE’s MUSE Cardiology Information Systems in hospitals for enhanced patient workflow.

New diagnostic support tools
In addition to proven diagnostic support of Marquette® ECG analysis programs, CardioSoft adds two new tools in the CardioSoft stress module: The ST/HR hysteresis feature enables increased accuracy in detecting coronary artery disease in women and adds confidence in identifying the most appropriate treatment. The stress module is also equipped with the patented Exercise Test Interpretation (XTI) algorithm to highlight critical values for efficient and timely diagnosis.

These new diagnostic tools give physicians more precise data — the key clinical intelligence they need to make fast, accurate diagnoses that improve outcomes.

Access to patient data anytime, anyplace
CardioSoft supports physicians’ need for remote, secure access to data from anywhere via CardioSoft Web. Physicians can connect to CardioSoft Web to view reports for resting ECG, spirometry, stress and ambulatory blood pressure. Better access translates to faster test over-read, faster patient diagnosis and better workflow. Enhanced Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity provides full access to raw test data for review and re-analysis.

Seamless EMR connectivity speeds workflow
Today's healthcare environment increasingly demands central data access at every point from testing to treatment to billing. CardioSoft supports seamless connectivity to physicians’ EMR, PACS or to their hospital’s MUSE® Cardiology Information System for faster data review and billing. The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) viewing station exports DICOM reports to PACS for simultaneous review of imaging and ECG data.

Whatever the practice size, CardioSoft offers a completely scalable IT framework that works either as a standalone module or in a networked LAN environment with multiple acquisition and editing workstations.

“The new CardioSoft Diagnostic System offers physician offices and clinics access to quality data, versatile IT solutions with remote access through CardioSoft Web and new diagnostic support tools to help make more confident diagnosis,” said Dr. Matthias Weber, Vice President and General Manager of GE’s Global Diagnostic Cardiology business. “There is no compromise here, only clear, reliable data to support better outcomes.”

GE Healthcare CASE ES Ergospirometry Testing System: Two vital tests in one smart system.
With the new CASE ES Ergospirometry Testing System, physicians can evaluate stress testing and pulmonary function in one test, for a more complete picture of their patients’ cardiopulmonary health.

The system combines the quality of the CASE Exercise Testing System with the power of the Ganshorn PowerCube in one platform, enabling physicians to provide faster, more accurate diagnosis of cardiopulmonary conditions including heart failure, post-surgical evaluation, ventilatory disorders or athletic performance.

“Complete cardiopulmonary data provides a more insightful view of a patient’s health than a simple stress test,” added Weber. “With the new CASE ES Ergospirometry Testing System, we're giving physicians enhanced diagnostic confidence and more value for their equipment investment.”

More capabilities for your investment
Healthcare facilities worldwide must balance the demands of their patients against the realities of their budgets. The CASE ES system can be installed as an upgrade to existing CASE systems, making it a cost-effective way for physicians to add the benefits of cardiopulmonary diagnostics to their practice.

Easy navigation increases accuracy
The CASE ES software allows the user to easily toggle between full screens of each Wasserman panel or simultaneous views of all nine panels, enabling accurate detection of Anaerobic Threshold (ATI).

Seamless data access
The seamless integration of ergospirometry software into CASE ensures that test results are easily accessible for review, editing and exporting from any PC or via LAN.
