Assembly technology for all levels of automation

ID: 84360

At the productronica 2011 ENGMATEC GmbH will inform on new developments in the area of assembly automation. Many branches are faced with the new challenge of smaller and smaller parts to be processed along with increasing quality requirements. It is almost impossible to forgo increases in efficiency enabled by automated assembly processes. The trend is towards highly flexible, modifiable production equipment.

(firmenpresse) - The optimum level of automation depends on various factors, e.g. quantity, complexity of processes, variety of types, location, etc. Depending on the requirement, ENGMATEC designs assembly systems from the single workstation to high-volume production.

The equipment is based on a combination of proven system modules. New standard cells in the fields of gluing, laser marking, screwing and dispensing have now been developed by ENGMATEC. All components are matched with each other and can be combined with each other as well as with various production systems.

The company, based at Lake Constance, provides engineering competence and innovative solutions for the most different production processes, from assembly to packaging.

• Component handling
• Assembly, positioning and insertion
• Screwing
• Separation and feed technology
• Welding and soldering
• Laser cutting, drilling and laser hardening
• Weighing and dosing
• Greasing and oiling
• Gluing and dispensing
• Vision systems
• Handling and transport
• Leakage tests
• Functional tests
• Sorting
• Identifying and marking
• Packaging
• ........

Innovative automation solutions do not only have to cope with flexible quantities but also with an ever increasing diversity of variants. ENGMATEC assembly equipment can be converted easily and quickly; extensions depending on quantities can be performed without problems. This ensures the flexibility required by the customers for reacting to market requirements.

Modern robot systems open up versatile options with respect to performance capability and economic efficiency. Depending on the automation task different robot types are integrated into the equipment.
The development team put a high priority on integrating future-oriented methods in the solution concepts:
- Lean Management for synchronized processes without wastage and unnecessary operations

- Poka Yoke solutions for immediate detection of weak points and continuous prevention of faults
- One Piece Flow for low stocks without intermediate storage, minimum space requirement, high flexibility and short lead times

To ensure continuous traceability, all quality-relevant data are acquired and integrated into higher workflow and MES systems (Manufacturing Execution System). ENGMATEC equipment provides 100 % process control by using high-value sensor technologies, e.g. torque/angle of rotation or load/displacement monitoring and vision systems.
