The Paragon Report Provides Equity Research on YRC Worldwide & Arkansas Best

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/07/11 -- According to the American Trucking Association (ATA), trucking serves as a barometer of the US economy -- representing nearly 68% of tonnage carried in 2008 by all modes of domestic freight transportation, including manufactured and retail goods. The latest ATA data hints that the United States may be able to avoid a double-dip recession -- welcome news for Arkansas Best and YRC Worldwide. The Paragon Report examines investing opportunities in the Trucking Industry and provides equity research on YRC Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: YRCW) and Arkansas Best Corporation (NASDAQ: ABFS). Access to the full company reports can be found at:

The latest data the ATA shows that trucking companies saw freight levels rebound slightly in September. The trade group's truck tonnage index increased 1.6 percent last month after declining a revised 0.5 percent in August. ATA's advance, seasonally adjusted index of for-hire truck tonnage initially showed a 0.2 percent drop in August.

Bill Graves, president and CEO of the American Trucking Associations, said he remains optimistic about the industry despite the headwinds of a tough national economy.

Arkansas Best's third quarter 2011 performance reflects strong improvement from its largest subsidiary, ABF Freight System, Inc. ABF produced healthy revenue and profit growth that resulted from improved account pricing in the midst of moderating tonnage levels.

The analyst community is optimistic that the strengthening economy will help YRC Worldwide boost its top line. The Thomson Reuters analyst consensus is that the company lost 36 cents a share on $1.28 billion in revenue during the quarter. YRCW posted 1.14 billion in revenue during the same period last year.
