Underthe agreement, Tecan will supply a fully automated solution forHologic's Cervista® molecular diagnostics human papillomavirus (HPV)tests. The system is based on Tecan's flexible and reliable FreedomEVO® liquid handling platform with an integrated Tecan detectiondevice. Prototypes of the automated solution have already beensuccessfully tested with select Hologic customers.. Validation unitsto be used to generate the necessary data for regulatory approval ofthe automated system in the U.S. will be supplied before the end of2009. Tecan expects to ship commercial quantities for Hologicstarting in 2010. Tecan will also supply Hologic with plasticconsumables as an integral part of the validated system.
