Tektronix MDO4000 Named Finalist for Best in Test 2012 Award
World's First Mixed Domain Oscilloscope in Running for Test & Measurement World's Best in Test, Product of the Year Awards

(firmenpresse) - BEAVERTON, OR -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/11 -- Tektronix, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, today announced that the series has been named a for Test & Measurement World's Best in Test 2012 and Product of the Year awards. The revolutionary new MDO4000 is the world's first oscilloscope to include a built-in spectrum analyzer, helping design engineers save time by looking at time-correlated analog, digital, serial and RF signals on a single instrument.
The Best in Test 2012 awards are intended to recognize innovative products introduced between November 1, 2010, and September 30, 2011. The finalists were selected by the publication's editors based on vendor nominations. A total of 17 category winners will be determined by the magazine's readers who can between now and December 16. Winners will be announced on January 31 at DesignCon 2012.
"It is an honor to be recognized by the editors of Test & Measurement World as a finalist for the Best in Test 2012 industry awards for the MDO4000, which we believe is a true breakthrough for our customers," said Martyn Etherington, vice president, Worldwide Marketing, Tektronix. "We work hard to deliver the innovative, game-changing products that our customers demand -- and this nomination showcases that dedication."
Introduced on August 30, the MDO4000 Series is tailored to meet the needs of the more than 60 percent of oscilloscope users who also use a spectrum analyzer to troubleshoot embedded designs with wireless functionality. As the first oscilloscope ever to integrate the functionality of a spectrum analyzer, the MDO4000 provides a unique toolset which can save days or even weeks of debug time.
With the MDO4000, engineers can replace both a scope and spectrum analyzer with a single instrument. This enables them to continue using their tool of choice, the oscilloscope, to look at the frequency domain rather than having to find and relearn a spectrum analyzer. For debugging, it goes well beyond typical spectrum analyzer functionality by allowing users to capture time-correlated analog, digital and RF signals across 4 analog, 16 digital and 1 RF channel. With separate instruments, it is virtually impossible to accurately correlate signals across domains. This enables a new realm of testing, simplifying common debug tasks for today's integrated wireless-enabled designs. For instance, now engineers can easily measure how long it takes their RF power amplifier to turn-on after a command is sent on the device's serial bus.
In addition to its industry-first mixed-domain capabilities, the MDO4000 offers all the feature-rich tools of Tektronix MSO4000B Mixed Signal Oscilloscope Series combined with the features of a mainstream spectrum analyzer. The MSO4000B Series offers a robust set of features to speed every stage of debugging designs - from quickly discovering an anomaly and capturing it, to searching waveform records for the event and analyzing its characteristics and the device's behavior.
